        Hi,

I have two 7 month old bunnies, bought from a pet shop approx 4 months ago.

At the time I was told that both my buns were Dwarf lop’s (with Tyrion being more dwarf than lop), however they are so different in both looks and nature that I am now convinced that they have Tyrion’s breed wrong. Can anyone help me identify what breed he is?

He is the bun to the right of my profile pic, as well as the pics attached bellow.

        Thanks in advance!

          Hi, welcome to BB!

Just looking at your pictures, I’d say your bunny is Vienna marked and harlequin patterned. I’m saying Vienna marked because of the asymmetrical white pattern and blue eyes. Unfortunately, that doesn’t give any hints regarding breed. Both genes have been introduced into many breeds in order to get BEW (Vienna gene) and Harlequin pattern (Harlequin gene) varieties.

What I can look at is ear shape, which does give me a bit of a clue. His ears have that lop shape about them. So, it is possible he is a dwarf (mini) lop mix. Lop mixes can have upright ears, helicopter ears, or lopped ears.

Oh my gosh, so cute and playful looking! I don’t know as much about rabbit breeds as a lot of people on here, but he looks a little like a very pale Dutch rabbit mix? My little mixed rabbit was also described as having Vienna and harlequin markings by a member here, but she has far less white than your bun does.

Vienna markings can range anywhere from a little snip on the nose to the entire front half of the body. Dutch mix is a possibility too, but blue eyes are generally associated with the Vienna gene regardless of coat coloration.

Ah that clears up a lot about his colouring – he was so different to the other buns in the pen. It was the blue eyes that drew me in!

I’m starting to think a dutch/lop mix? His temperament is a lot different than Jon Snows (dwarf lop) – more cheeky and energetic! Thanks for your replies, helps a lot
