Ok I have been waiting a while ( two weeks ) to see if Daisy’s sneezing and squeaking stoped and mainly also cause my vet wasn’t opened due to the holidays but today it’s in my room she started coughing! For a minute at least she was coughing and the afterward she started squeaking again like she has been for the past weeks… And also I’m taking her to the vet this Monday but any suggestions on what I should do in the mean time?? And also today the squeaks have been becoming more frantic I’ve at least heard squeak at least over 25 times…

        Thanks

I think you’ve posted a bit in the past about health concerns, so going to the vet on Monday is a great choice.

Your vet can better find the cause, but since both your rabbits seem affected (could be a coincidence though), I suggest bringing a small sample of their shared supplies so your vet can glance and see if anything seems askew. So litter, bedding, hay, pellets, etc.. anything that may cause airborne distress or is ingested.

Until then, make sure they’re both eating and using the restroom as usual. If there’s no poop for a day, go to an emergency vet. If there’s no appetite, you need to force feed critical care.

If there’s difficulty breathing, see if there’s any noticeable discharge around the nose. You can use a slightly damp q top to tease snot away from the entrance. Just be gentle and don’t go into the actual nose.

Recording and videoing the squeaks and noises is wise as well, as I know you’ve mentioned this to your vet already!

I’m wondering if this is some sort of honking/grunting being mistaken for coughs? Of course going to the vet is the first port of call as wick suggested, but if this doesn’t determine a cause then maybe it is behavioural. Especially seen as you have briefly heard your other bunny make the same noises. Are both your rabbits spayed and did you follow the correct bonding process? This could be some fearful/territorial behaviour from your rabbits if they are maturing and not spayed

Yes both of my bunnies are spayed and neutered they are both two years old and I didn’t have to do a bonding process for them cause when I got them they were in the same store. The only reason why I’m alarmed is that she had never coughed before and I’ve heard her grunting and honking before but this sounds completely different. And for the past day when she is squeaking or breathing funny she is alarmed with ears up. And also another reason why I don’t think she’s grunting is cause when she started to cough she was shaking a bit and she did it for almost a minute. She’s doing alright now she did also cough a bit late last night but nothing since then… I’ll keep you posted on the news… thanks for the advice

And also Arwen has not squeaked again and she seems fine actualy. Earlier I was eating a banana and she came and started licking the cage bars and shaking them demanding for some And she gobbled it up Daisy didn’t eat it though. She it’s really a sweet tooth so I gave her some cilantro ( her favorite veggie ) and she was delighted except after Arwen finished the banana she decided to go and eat some herself…

Hi Sarah, it’s better to make your own post, as you’ll get more responses that way.

Unfortunately, colds are serious for rabbits, its not like a human getting a cold.

It could be allergies, for example to hay dust or bedding. But if he’s wheezing when he’s breathing, it sounds like it could be an upper respiratory infection, so he probably needs to see a vet can get antibiotics. Does he have any discharge from his nose?

Sarah Lou, if your bunny is wheezing, he should se a vet and get antibiotics and perhaps a decongestant and/or a bronchodialtor. If the wheezings come from his lungs he could be developing pneumonia. It’s very serious, but with swift treatment the bun can make a full recovery. Do you have a rabbit vet?

It sounds like he has a respiratory infection and needs antibiotics, so yes, vet as soon as you can in these cases it’s always best to see a vet.
