Carrot should be regarded as a fruit. Amount rather depends on the size of the bunny and on the bunny’s capacity to digest treats. Meaning some buns like my Bam gets sticky poop from carrots. If your just starting to give treats to a young bun, I’d start with a centimeter slice of carrot. That’s approx 1/2 inch. Or half a baby carrot. You start out in a very small scale and then you can increase amount if there are no adverse effects- ie sticky poop/extra cecals.

Berries are good healthy treats because they’re low in sugar. For starters half a strawberry, a raspberry, a blueberry for example. I sometimes give a piece of apple peel (obviously wash the apple first so any remnants of pesticides are washed off). My Bam also appreciates a piece of red or yellow bell pepper, but that’s of course a borderline veggie.

It’s a bit of a misconception that bunnies should be given carrots regularly, they’re actually quite high in sugar (similar to fruit) so should only be given in moderation as a treat. I think the general guideline is 1 tablespoon of treat food per day but that’s the absolute max and of course it depends on the size and age of your bunny.

How old is your bun? If he’s old enough for leafy greens (you can start introducing them at 12 weeks slowly) then herbs are a great treat and of course very healthy. Dill is a favourite for my rabbits.
