Every time I sit down on the couch with food in hand, Harvey tries to get some. Doesn’t matter if it is veggie or not – including a cream based pasta sauce with bacon bits in it! I used to shoo him away since this is clearly not rabbit food, but once I let him go at it to see if he would figure it out. He ate all the remains of my spicy jalapeno white cheddar cheese popcorn and got a little diarrhea. But he still goes for my foods whenever he has the chance. Also god forbid I let a packing peanut fall on the floor because he will inhale that thing.

I thought, to a certain degree, animals know what is good and bad for them – at least on major things like being herbivores versus omnivores!

Does your rabbit eat crazy things (or try to)?

Yep! My rabbit has gone after my cheesy popcorn, dog food, I think he’s gotten a single M&M and definitely a pretzel. His old owner gave him table scraps, and she said he loved those (obviously I don’t giving them to him). I don’t think they can catch on to things like that, and they won’t learn their lesson because they won’t associate the stomachache with the food.

Peanut got excited when I was eating beef flavour Crisps once lol. And both wanted my strawberries.

One time I had some tacos sitting on a plate on the coffee table, next thing I know I see Ophelia’s head pop up and she’s trying to grab a piece of lettuce out of it! Taco almost got dumped on the floor but I managed to move the plate in time. Note to self: eat at the dinner table, ya dummy! Ophelia then got her own lettuce so that she stayed away from mine.

Also, I tried to deter her from chewing the rubber stoppers on a babygate once, so I put hot sauce all over it. To my surprise, I just came home to a bunny that had licked it all off and had an orange dyed mouth for several weeks!
