So Panda and Fernando are coming down to North Carolina again with me Saturday for Christmas weekend. As before, they’ll be rooming with me in my bedroom at my parents’ home (actually, as opposed to Thanksgiving where I was assigned a different room, I’ll now be using the room I usually use, which is bigger so will have more space to put up their X-pen). I feel a bit guilty if they get left out Christmas morning though, so I was wondering if it might be a good idea to bring out their X-pen and put it up in the living room/front room where they can be with me and my parents? Or would that be too stressful for them, even if only for a few hours? It’ll be their first Christmas with me, needless to say, and I have their presents all ready!

As long as your family doesn’t become invasive, 3-year olds poking at them, I think that’s a fine arrangement. They just might want a slightly calmer atmosphere since that may typically be when they’re winding down to sleep.

No worries about that – it’s just going to be my parents (both in their 70’s) and me (in my 50’s). I had been half-expecting my sister and her two boys to be present there, but apparently not this year; even if they were, both boys are well over 10 (the older is turning 12 tomorrow) and my other sister’s kids are both 10+ too. Probably will be Christmas music playing, it’ll be interesting to see how Panda and Fernando like that because, me being hearing-impaired, they haven’t gotten to hear much in the way of music this fall.

Oh you should wrap a shoebox with some treats in it! It’s so cute to watch them tear and dig at the wrapping paper. Then they can be involved in all the festivities

Great idea, if I can find a shoebox! If not, I feel sure I can at least obtain a small box and put some goodies in there.

I’ve been watching too many YouTube videos of rabbits opening presents….. I think any kind of small box will work, the smart little buggers will figure out how to get into it….Even if they have to do it the improper way and rip the box apart XD
