So Cookie is molting and I’ve been brushing her every day, but I am going on vacation for a week for winter break on Friday. I don’t know what to do, because I’m not sure I can ask the people I’ve asked to take care of her to brush her. What do you think I should do?

Is her molt still heavy, or is she towards the end of her molt? Have the people you asked to take care of her done so before?

They haven’t brushed her, no. It is still quite heavy

If you think they would be willing, I would ask/show them how to brush her. For caretakers, brushing can be intimidating, especially for buns who do not like being brushed. Since they have never brushed her before, maybe you could get one of those brush gloves? That’s one of the things I use to get fur off Luna. It works well, and it’s easy to use .

I think it’s important that you ask them to brush her at least a couple of times, otherwise they might be dealing with a stasis/blockage bun, which would be even more stressful.

I’ll be watching this thread as I’ve got a similar dilemma. I have got to go into hospital and I’m the only one that can groom the buns. Buttercup is moulting so bad, I’m terrified of what will happen

I am going to order the gloves – when I bring her there, I’ll show them how to brush her with the brush and the glove. I’m still not sure though, so do you think it will work out? I’m really worried about this – I’m going to Germany and I’m not even in the country. Also, sarahthegemini, I hope your situation gets worked out

You could also try a lint roller? How easy is she to brush? I don’t think its too much to ask of someone as long as she sits still and it isn’t a huge stress for her.

I’m sure it will be fine as long as they manage to stop her consuming too much hair. Even if that just means plucking out loose bits with their fingers.

You could also leave some small pineapple pieces for her to eat while you’re away, which help to break down the hair in the gut.

She is pretty okay with it but she can get a little restless if it takes too long. I don’t want to buy too much because my parents won’t let me, but I will do all that. Thank you all so much!!!!!
