Charlie’s had a runny nose on and off for quite a while now. One day it’ll be runny, the next – nothing. Not terribly runny, and is thin and clear. She also gets crusty eyes kind of often.

I want to figure out what the issue is and be sure I’m not ignoring something serious. She eats 100% normally, runs around like a maniac, all bodily functions are normal. She’s her usual self and doesn’t seem bothered by it at all. Does anybody have any idea what the issue could be?

I know snuffles can be a question, but I just feel like she’s too much her normal self to be feeling very sick. Just want to cover all of my bases and keep her healthy.

I should add that the weather is changing a lot lately where we live – it’s suddenly very cold, so I’m wondering if that could contribute to it? She lives indoors, but it’s still kind of chilly!

        Thanks so much!

Is she sneezing at all? It could be a URI (snuffles) or it could be allergies. Either way, a rabbit will act normally. While it’s good to be aware your rabbit is acting normally, there are instances where something is happening and you want to catch it early before it makes your rabbit act as ill as they are.

Are most of your supplies dust free? Have you changed anything?

If it gets worse, becomes colored, or she begins sneezing, take her to a rabbit vet. If it persists, also do so. It’ll be up to you. In terms of if it is a URI, the sooner is the better.

thanks so much for your response. i vacuum and clean her room a few times a week, but it still can get dusty. she has the run of a room for her “cage” and then upstairs when i’m home. Ive noticed her hay can be dusty – sometimes makes me snfhen i’m handling it! It’s good hay though – get it from small pet selesct. she sneezes every once in a while but not often enough that i’m concerned. I can’t think of anything that’s really changed in her environment
I have to bring her into the vet for a nail trim so i think i’ll have them look her over and get their opinion on it just to be sure

Your vet will probably check her lungs and possibly do a nasal culture to test for Pasteurella. Hopefully, it’s just the hay dust that’s bothering her.
