I came home from lunch to find him unresponsive.  Rushed him to the vet, had them try to resuscitate.  He was only 2 1/2 years old.

I have a camera set up to watch both of my bunnies, and it captured what happened. I don’t understand though.  He’s fine one minute munching his hay on top of his litter, then he stops, kind of rocks forward and back once, then freaks out and tries to run the opposite direction he’s facing, but falls.

He then cranes his neck way up high, while on his stomach. Then relaxes and jerks a few times over the next minute.

I get there 43 minutes later.

Vet thinks maybe seizure or heart attack. I don’t understand how this can just happen. I’m destroyed right now, me and my gf both.  He was part of our bunny family, because that’s all we really got.

Here’s a pick of him and snuggles.

        This hurts so much.

My heart goes out to you and your girlfriend for the sudden loss of your bunny I lost my bun Barry last Friday and have been crushed as well. Like Ajay, Barry’s passing was totally unexpected, which makes it all the more devastating and hard to cope with. I’m still confused why I lost Barry and my only reasoning is that bunnies are very fragile little creatures. It is a terrible feeling to feel helpless for them, but you did all you could and gave Ajay all the love and care in the world.

Your bunnies look like sweeties. How is Snuggles doing?

I was given the advice to do something in his memory by family and on this forum. It has helped me cope with the loss – you and your girlfriend should do something like that together with Snuggles. I started working on a photo book of Barry, and today I got a beautiful little schefflera tree to place where his hutch used to be, placed a small clay rabbit with it, and wrapped the base in firefly lights.

It’s really hard to not be fixated on what more could have been done, or how to prevent it. I’m battling that as well. Photos and talking about it has helped me most. Again I am so sorry for the loss of your Ajay. You guys aren’t alone in this struggle. Take care <3

That’s such sad news, I’m sorry you are going through this It probably won’t help, but if it was a seizure or heart attack as the vet suspects then please know that there was nothing you could have done. I hope you, your girlfriend and Snuggles are able to comfort each other xxx

Kate that memorial spot sounds lovely <3

Thank you for your kind words. I’m still just in shock and pain and disbelief, even as we have to worry about the health of snuggles and whether or not to get her a friend.
