Tomorrow Mister Baby is going to the vet to get a regular check up and to get some stubborn matts removed. After finding this (http://binkyabout.com/rabbit-coat-and-fur-types/ ) blog post I’m curious about what type of fur he has and what the most effective way to deal with it might be. His under coat is dense, soft, with fine strands. His outer coat (I think) is black and thicker. but there is much less of this fur. His fur grows about 2 inches long. I go over him with a comb but I don’t think I’m parting it properly to get all the undercoat shed.

Has anyone tried zoomgroom or other rubber bristled tools?

So in short I’m looking for tips on how to part his fur effectively, what comb will loosen the undercoat shed hairs once I part it, and if my description of his coat will determine a certain grooming method.

And of course, pics of the little rain cloud

before and after matt shaving and 30 min of combing
you can now see his little tail which wiggles around quite a bit and is very scraggly looking
but baby looks like a new bun!

Shedding and moults can definitely make rabbits look completely different after a good brushing! Hes an adorable bun. He looks like a Wooly to me.

I dont have one, but my Nethie has a thick undercoat and a longer coat in winter too and bristle brushes work really well for him.

My Bindi has puffy hair like that, although somewhat shorter. The 2 grooming tools I use for him is a small slicker brush (I use Lil Pals- made for small dogs) and a comb with rotating teeth to help with tangles, also bought in the dog section. I can take a pic of both these brushes if that would be helpful to you .

Hi all! Baby has been neutered and is now becoming fond of grooming, which entirely changed the game!! A metal comb with blunt ends and a flea comb have been working great now that he comes to me and sits still. Thank you all for the advice, I’ve spent lots of time in the pet store grooming isle these last few weeks hehe

Wonderful!!!! Count yourself very lucky you have a bun who enjoys grooming!!! My big boy growls and tries to bite me while I’m grooming him. Shedding season is dangerous around here!!!
