I’ve had Henryk for 5 months now. I adopted with the intention of getting a second rabbit as he was quite affectionate with other rabbits from the beginning. Especially Amelia, who he groomed obsessively during dates with occasional mounting.

Today I brought Amelia to my parent’s house where I’ll be staying for thanksgiving, hoping the neutral territory helps them grow closer. Unfortunately Friday the shelter closed before I got into town to pick her up, giving Henryk an extra evening to settle in.

Saturday morning(today) I brought her home. I let them both move around my room freely, trying to keep Henryk away from her so she could explore without him trying to assert domminance. Through my inexperience there was more mounting than what probably should have happened

I have 1 pen in my parents home so as of right now Henryk is in there while Amelia has free roam. The pen and outside of the pen have a separate litter box, hay feeder, bowls, ect. At 11 pm and am each day I plan to switch that. Having the one in the pen free roam and the one free roaming in the pen. I have made make shift barriers around the pen so they can’t nip through the cagr.

Once I return to my apartment next week (their permanent home) I’ll start regular bonding sessions.

If you have any questions about my plan or notice I’m doing anything wrong please let me know! I want this to be as easy as possible for my buns.

You can’t start bonding as soon as you get home. You need to let Amelia have time to properly settle in and then you need to pre bond for a month ish before you start actual sessions.

I’ll make sure to keep them separate for longer then.

Otherwise it’s been going as expected. She’s shy but exploring at her own pace. Sometimes she’ll come towards me and bow her head down for pets, othertimes she’ll thump as soon as I enter the room.
He’s much more active. Last night he secreted as much musk as his little neutered body could muster and my room smelled like boy bunny for hours. He’s much more curious about her than she is him right now. Henryk is also being more territorial than he’s ever been, chinning and leaving droppings on anything he can.
I’m thankful Amelia hasn’t followed suit so I’m not cleaning after both of them. XD
