        Hi everybody,
I am extremely nervous. While I was gone today my bunny somehow jumped and knocked down leftover Halloween candy. It was what I thought was out of her reach but I was wrong. There was 2 KitKat wrappers, 1 gum wrapper, 3 mint wrappers and cashews missing. She seems like herself and she’s currently eating a lot of hay and I keep filling up her water. I am not sure what time she ate it but she was alone 7-1. So sometime during that time she ate it. Should I take her to the vet? Or will she pass it on her own? Like I said she seems completely fine.

        Any advice helps, thank you!

I would take her to the vet ASAP, like literally right now

Vet. Now. If she’s consumed that much, it could be fatal.

Call a vet and ask if they want to see her. How many hours has it been? Chocolate is toxic to buns, but it depends on amount of cacao, amount eaten and the bunny’s weight. Chocolate affects the liver and the heart, and we have had reports of cases of chocolate poisoning here. It can be fatal.

The chocolate would be the most concerning out of everything that was allegedly consumed. Milk chocolate is, of course, less toxic and Kit-Kats are mostly wafer, but I would still be worried. I don’t know what time it is there. The vet may be closed. But if you have an emergency hotline for pets, you could try calling them. I remember the emergency vet office talking to me over the phone once when it was late at night and I didn’t know if it was really an emergency or not. They could at least tell you if they thought you needed to bring your bun in.

Thank you everyone for your responses! I brought Penny to the vet immediately and she is on medicine to get it out of her system. Thank you again.
