I’m kind of shocked rn and don’t know what to think. My bunny has nightmares when he sleeps or so I think because his face quivers. I usually manage to record it because I find it cute – however tonight he fell to the side while quivering very hard. This happened for the second time. The first time was two weeks ago and he fell to the side while sleeping again. I laughed but he noticed and sat up straight. Didn’t think anything of it. However it really looks scary on the video. Plus sometimes he tries to jump but slips/misses so he falls right back on the floor again. I always laughed but omg now I feel bad for laughing. Might sth be wrong with him? Or is it because I have a slippery tile floor? https://youtu.be/yyDY6NTD5PI

That’s actually normal dreaming! Whether it’s nightmares or high-energy because he’s dreaming of eating bananas, we shall not know. Additional movements can be front and/or back feet digging occasionally, slight squeak sounds if the throat/nasal passages are positioned in such a way/there’s nasal air blockage, and lots of pupil size changes as the dream/sleep period progresses.

Thank you that’s a huuge relief! I’m still wondering though if it could be something else..like in the back of my head Doesn’t it look like a seizure? I never saw bunnies dreaming.

Wick looks like that when he’s in that kind of sleeping mood. Doesn’t happen everytime he sleeps. Some sleeps it’s a sit with eyes open. Other times it’s full flop sleep with eyes closed. It may deal with the level of alertness they decide to sustain when sleeping. I imagine this occurs when they’re most relaxed and fully let go before sleeping, explaining the sudden sit up when they wake up for an instant

Oh yeah, Clover does this too. When she really sacks out, usually against my side, she’ll twitch, moan, make little squeaky grunty noises, her paws will twitch and kick, and she poos a lot when she really relaxes. Sometimes she’ll be sound asleep and spaz herself awake at some dream moment or imagined noise, and run away.

A deeply sleeping bunny is a treat to watch.
