        Hi ,

I am hoping someone can help me. I believe my rabbit may have fallen from a short distance which caused one of her ears to droop down (normally they are always up etc). This occurred yesterday and she was shaking her head a lot after one of her ears was not working. Since it is the weekend there are no exotic vets, we decided to watch her and hope she didn’t get worse. While she was shaking her head every few minutes (it seemed trying to move up her drooped ear) she was still alert, trying to eat, hopping around and going to the bathroom (which calmed me down).

Today, the next day, she has not been shaking her head as frequently as yesterday (every second/few minutes)but still does maybe every once an hour.  Both her ears seem to be functioning more normally (both go up in the air again).  She is eating, going to the bathroom, alert, running and she even did 2 flops.

Since rabbits hide their illnesses can someone please give me some input? Could it be she fell in a terrible position but blood is flowing correctly again, and nothing is damaged (if it was terrible nerve damage wouldn’t the ear not work and she stop eating?) Her shaking her head still concerns me a little but other than that it seems she is almost back to her normal self. Do you think she needs to go to a vet, do you think shaking her head could be some internal brain area damage?

        Thanks

You should go to the vet to be safe, but if she’s eating, drinking, and pooping and moving fine, it’s probably not too urgent.
