Tonight zeus stopped putting weight on one of his front paws. I took him to the vet, where the dr showed me where zeus had a nail that had broken off. We bought metacam and have an iodine solution to wipe on for a week to prevent infection.

We are home now, he is eating hay, but hops around slowly and still holds up his left paw with the broken nail to not put weight on it.
Im still worried. The dr said he did not feel any dislocation or breaks. I did not get an xray.
Have you had any experiences with a buns nail breaking, what were their behaviors and symptoms like.
Or have you had a bun with a broken or sprained paw, how did it affect their walk/hop?

Bunnies can have a sore paw after breaking a nail, particularly if they caught in something (for example, the carpet) which caused the break. Did the vet feel all his toes as well? He could have injured the toe the nail was attached to.

He said everything felt normal, to just watch for infection and if it gets infected he will prescribe antibiotics.

Im just worried because he is my first bun, and i guess its hard to register what type of pain he is in because ive never had this happen to me or a pet.
Thank you for replying, ill try to remember his paw is sore & not overthink the next few days :/

I would just keep an eye on him. If he isn’t better after a couple of days, then you may want to have the vet take another look.
