        Hi I’ll make this quick:

My semi-new bun is litter trained but recently when she’s been out of her cage, she has started poopin’ directly outside her litter box (about 2 inches away, beside it… what). I read one reason is that she might not like the litter but she’s been using the same litter for over 3 months and hasn’t done this before, she also goes in her litter box normally when she’s in her cage.

I noticed she ate some pellets in the box, then, when finished, immediately jumped outside to create a little poop pile for me huhu

        whY

        …Should I change the litter?

Or maybe it’s a marking thing?

or maybe she likes watching me clean it up lol

        Thanks

I didn’t get a chance to look at past posts — is she spayed? Maturity can change litter habits.

When was the last time you cleaned the litter box, as in clean the actual container and it’s components? Sometimes the urine layers and poo residue can build up, and any scents coming from that is something a rabbit can pick up but we can’t.

Are the poos the same shape, size, and quantity as usual as well?

Has she outgrown her litter box perchance?

          Lots of questions, haha.

Hi there, thanks for the reply, I’ll try to answer your many questions as clear as I can okherewego:

              1) I haven’t spayed her yet – trying to save up as best I can!

              2) I top up the litter box every day and clean the litter box every 2 to 3 days (depending how much is in there)

              3) The little angel poops are still the same as before, just, you know… OUTSIDE lol

              4) I purchased the biggest litter box I could find as she’s supposed to be about 7 pounds later on, no worries.

*) Also, new thing happening, yesterday and today when I went to feed her I found her resting in her litter box…. looking VERY comfortable haha. I know for a fact that she is not sick, as she still binkies and gets excited for foods when she sees me. I’m suspecting she’s just cold and surrounding herself with litter is warmer than a plastic cage floor (canadian winter is coming)

Another thing- She’s not resting on top of any litter, she dug a little space for herself to lay in. Smart little bean.

              Thanks
