( no eating or pooping this morning)
I had to take my bunny to the emergency vet today and they gave him fluids and a dose of Metoclopramide. This mad him very off balence when hopping slash shaking his head I am scared to give him another dose since he was so dizzy since we have been home he as eaten a small amount of pellets/ and hay had a little bit of water and pooped and peed a little I also was able to get about 3 ml of oxbow critical care down him as welll. I’m going to take him to our regular vet in the morning if I counting to watch him and after his dizziness I don’t. Know if I should give him more. Has anyone dealt with this before I’m not sure what to do

Medirabbit says about Metoclopramide: “The drug may induce central nervous system (CNS) effects (e.g. seizure, hyperactivity, depression, disorientation).” Dizzyness/loss of balance is a central nervous system effect.

But it could be that the reason for his GI problems is related to an ear infection or e cuniculi, because those conditions frequently cause loss of balance.

You can try the motility drug ranitidine instead of metoclopramide. It can cause dizziness in rare cases, but your rabbit might tolerate it better than he tolerates metoclopramide. It’s like that with humans too, if one med isn’t tolerated by the patient, you can try a different one that has a similar type of action but by some other mechanism.

It’s great that he has eaten some of his own + that you’ve given him CC and seen some poop. He might be over the worst already so he doesn’t need more motility meds.
