My bunny has been missing for a while and is now presumed dead. We live in the woods so there is little chance he is still alive? don’t call me a bad rabbit owner because I take the best care of my rabbits. And I have no idea how he got out because the cage door was shut and locked and there where no other holes in the cage. I am so upset I have been crying all day. I don’t know if I should get another one. I have 6 more. They all lived together. I can’t really tell if the other 6 are grieving or not. They have been acting a little spooky but not much else. My friend has plenty of bunnies and has offered to give me one if I want but I just don’t know. I feel like I am forgetting about him and moving on to fast from his death. What do you think? Am I moving on too quick? Should I get another rabbit? My birthday is in a 2 weeks and she wants to get me another one for my birthday but I just don’t know. Please help me decide and feel better.

I am sorry for your loss It’s always hard to lose a bunny.
You should get a new bunny if you feel ready. Do your bunnies live outside? The best way to avoid this happening again would be to keep them inside.

Sadly yes my bunnies do live outside. But not in a normal hutch. They live in a 12ft by 12 ft cage about the size of an average horse stall with double fencing one on the inside and one on the out. The cage is connected to my tack room Which is headed and completely closed off. Still not sure how he got out? we tried having them inside for a little while ( about 6 months) but they went into a state of depression like. So they were moved back outside.

Have you tried setting up a live trap? I heard of a bunny that was released at a nearby farm and after 2 weeks, I was able to catch him. Keep in mind, when searching he is probably scared and trying to hard. As well most bunnies are most active at dawn and dusk.
