I hope I’m posting this I the correct form. For about twelve weeks now I’ve had my Netherland Dwarf rabbit and this entire time I was under the impression that it was a girl. Picking her up today I notice it didn’t look right. I think she may be a he. Can someone help by telling me how to identify the genitals of the bunny

It’s difficult on smaller rabbits and young rabbits, and just rabbits generally when they aren’t developed yet. The moniker for males vs. females usually involves the shape of the pee-hole. If you google image search “rabbit gender”, you’ll get informative images (nothing gross or disgusting— no worries!).

There are numerous instances where you’re told or you think your rabbit is one gender, but it’s another. It’s a part of being a rabbit owner, so be prepared for either!

If testes do drop (literally two fur balls dangling), then he’s definitely a male, haha. Them dropping can happen early on or as late as 8mo, so it’s all varied.

Very hard to tell with young bunnies unless you are very experienced. We hear a lot of “My bun is actually a girl/boy!” here on BB.

The younger they are, the harder it can be sometimes. Can you post pictures?
