I am absolutely heart broken. My one year old bunny just died hours ago. The past 2 days my bunny stopped eating and was having diarrhea. She wasn’t her usual playful and lovable self. We took her to the vet today to only have her die right in front of us. I’m truly heartbroken and just wanna know why

I’m very sorry for your loss. It is very hard to lose a bunny.

It’s not possible to say what caused her death without a necropsy. Rabbits have a sensitive GI system, and when they stop eating it’s always serious. But there are many diffrent reasons why a rabbit stops eating. Sometimes there is some other illness behind it and the loss of appetite is just a symptom. Rabbits are very good at hiding illness until they nolonger can.

I’m so sorry. As Bam said, a necropsy is the only true way to determine what caused her death. There are so many causes out there that can lead to a bun’s unexpected passing that often we can only speculate what happened.

I’m so sorry for your loss You did well to take her to a vet, and I’m so sorry that the vet couldn’t do anything for her. It’s difficult to find why a rabbit has died, and I understand that having no answers makes it difficult to deal with all the grief.
Rabbits are extremely delicate animals and masters of hiding illness. When you see symptoms, it’s nearly always a medical emergency already. I hope that’s some sort of an explanation as to why things get out of hand so quickly with rabbits.

I’m really sorry to read this Michelle.

You did the right thing taking her to the vet. What Bam said above is so true. “Rabbits are very good at hiding illness until they no longer can. ” A very sad truth.

I’m very sorry for your loss.

I’m sorry you lost your little bunny. One year old is way too early. Everyone has pretty much already said everything. When things start to go wrong they can pass away so quickly. It is truly heartbreaking. And not having answers can make it even worse and more frustrating. You did what you could. You took her to the vet. I’m glad she got to be with you for as long as she lived. You obviously loved her. I’m sure she loved you and you two made some happy bunny memories together. Be thankful for those. I am sorry again for your loss.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my little one a few days ago now and it’s been so hard. My bunny passed away suddenly at the vets when going in for surgery. It truly is heart breaking and I feel for you. Everyone here has been so supportive and are right in saying that you did the right thing and you gave bunny a great life. I’m grieving and so are you and it’s going to take a while before everything starts making sense but be strong, bunny knows you loved her dearly.

I also grieve with you in this time of sadness. I recently lost a bunny as well and the pain was heart rending. I hope you find solace in the loving home you provided and the care you gave her.
