My old girl 9 years old has very mucus-y poops. Some poops totally dry and fine and some are not. Her appetite is good, energy is fine, everything else seemingly normal (we put her on oats and pea protein to help her gain weight which has helped). We (regular vet) have been treating her with Albon and Metrinitizole and not a ton of change for 3 weeks. going to our PT vet for cold laser tomorrow and am going to ask what she thinks as well. Any ideas from you guys?  **she is also on panacur for EC, and some pain meds…I hate to overload her.

Awww bless her! Hope she’s doing okay and not too bothered by all the meds!
There are usually many different causes for mucus poos but it’s definitely something to consult the vet about as it usually indicates something’s not quite right in the digestive system. Glenn had mucus poos a while back and had a little bit of GI stasis because of a build up of fur bless him and I came across a lot of research about mucus poos, it may well be the EC as EC and other parasites can often cause mucus in the poo, if she’s quite energetic still I’d say it would more likely be that than anything more sinister but definitely get the vets professional opinion!
          Good luck!

It could be what Glenn says, the EC. Mucus in stools generally indicate some type of intestinal irritation. The mucosal lining secretes extra mucus to protect itself. Was the mucosy poop the reason she was put on antibiotics?

I found this article about bunny poop on the House Rabbit Society website. Maybe it has some kind of useful information: http://rabbit.org/the-mystery-of-rabbit-poop/ . There’s also this ( http://www.medirabbit.com/EN/GI_diseases/drop/Drp_en.htm ) from medirabbit, but other than naming the poops, it doesn’t really give any other info.

She was put on Panacur for hind leg weakness, she is on and off it every other month.

We suspect it could be the protein and oats the Vet encouraged to help her gain weight, once stopping that a week ago a lot less jelly poops, but she did have more last night (which could have been of a bit of statis for earlier in the week- we were traveling and I think that caused it). It’s weird cuz her energy is great, appetite is good, weight has been consistent and most of the time her poops are completely normal.

The albon and metrinotizole did nothing for the jelly poops, so thats what has me thinking its the oats and pea protein. I’m a little bummed I saw more last night but it was all super clear jelly and in the past it was yellowy/brownish. The PT vet (sorry we see a main vet and a PT vet) suggested stopping the oats and protein and if we don’t see an improvement in 10 days or so take her in to the other vet. But it was nice to see she wasn’t too concerned especially with seeing her in office and not being too worried.
