My little lop rabbit Hazy is only 5 months old and ever since I first got her she’s been very sniffly and sneezy. I don’t know whether this is just a normal thing for some rabbits, or that I should take her to the vets? I have noticed her nose has been wet sometimes but she drinks out of a bowl so it could just be water. She lives outdoors in a hutch, so I don’t know if maybe cool temperatures could be making her like this? Average temperatures here are from 10-14 degrees Celsius (I’d love to keep her indoors but my dad won’t allow it ?) Sorry if any of these are silly questions, I’m still new to being a bunny owner so there’s a lot I’m unsure of ?

Bombur is the same way, and my vet thinks he’s just prone to a bit of nasal issues. She told us to give him children’s Benadryl at .2ml twice a day when he’s in a bit of sneezy spell. It’s honestly worked wonders for him. Give that a try before blowing tons of money at the vet.

It’s ususally warmer weather that can make a snuffly rabbit worse. The cooler air helps keep their nasal passages open.

Do you use any wood bedding in the hutch? That can irritate the respiratory system for some rabbits. Does the hutch have good ventilation?

What type of hay does she have? We did have a member recently discover her rabbit was sensitive to timothy hay! Even the timothy based pellets.

If you have tried some changes in her environment and she still is like this, it would be a good idea to get her seen by the vet. Particularly if she starts producing thick and/or opaque nasal discharge.

My bunny, Charloette, sneezes a bit more than usual too, occasionally, the vet says that some rabbits just sneeze like that, and unless there’s muscus or any other funky liquid, you should be fine.
