lol i know it is a self-centered post, but my bunny NEVER kisses/licks me. My old bun (RIP <3) used to always kiss me and lick me.

I read somewhere that it is a big sign of affection, so why does my bun never seems to kiss me? Does that mean that i am doing something wrong or are some bunnies allergic to PDAs?

How long have you had this new rabbit? He/she may not have that type of relationship with you yet. It’s difficult not to set expectations about another rabbit when you were so close to one in the past, but know there will be differences in each rabbit’s behavior that is inherent to the rabbit, not a factor of you, the environment, etc..

And yes, some rabbits just wont be as affectionate.

One of my bunnies licks me all the time, the other one has never ever licked me. I’m sure the one that doesn’t lick me still likes me, she’ll lie next to me for strokes, but she just isn’t a very licky bunny.

It can take a long time for bunnies to get to the point where they feel emotionally close enough to you to lick/groom you. Of my two buns, Fernando’s always been the more affectionate and outgoing, but even he only grooms me once in a long while.

My bunnies do not lick people. Theyll lick clothes, but the second they lick skin they gross out (its hilarious; it doesnt matter how clean you are which makes us believe they just hate salt). They do give boops though, which we call kissies. Boops being when they lightly poke you with their nose. Blue is our most kissie bunny. All me or my partner have to say is “Bluey, can I have a kissie?” then pucker our lips and Blue will give them a little boop boop with his nose

The others mostly boop our hands or legs, and usually only during/after feedings or treat givings.

My Bam started licking my skin right away when I got him, for my other bun it took a year before he licked my hand. And he never licked it intensely like Bam does. So I think buns are different in this respect. It might not even always mean affection, seeing that Bam started licking my hands before we knew each other at all. I think it could be an appeasing signal in such cases, like “See, I’m a good guy, please be good to me too.” My other rabbit had more of a growl-and-lunge approach to hoomins he didn’t know.

Some buns are kissers and some aren’t. My first bunny, a little Mini Rex, used to go nuts giving us kisses. He was a mega people kisser. Sadly he passed away a few years ago and haven’t had another kissy bunny. 5 bunnies since getting him and no other kissies. I miss bunny kisses. I know my 2 current buns love me and they are affectionate but just don’t give kisses.

I’m so, soooo jealous of people with affectionate bunnies )’: Sirius doesn’t kiss either.  She also doesn’t sit on my lap, or lay beside me, or like being held.  She seems to be the one who decides when she will ACCEPT pets; which is when she lays down and has her feet kicked behind her, or when she’s been loafing for a long period of time.  Lol.  SOMETIMES when I come by and randomly pet her, she’ll randomly deem it acceptable and allow it without hopping away.  The most affection I ever see from her is when she closes her eyes off and on as I pat her, and/or her toothy chatters/purrs from petting.

I’m really darned jealous of everyone with cuddley buns.  Really, really, really am.  Lol.  I always have to resist the urge to just plop Sirius on my lap and force pet her  I just want to so badly!  But she’d resent me.  I love her, haha.

I have two buns, and one of them gives me kisses every now and again and will allow me to pick him up to give him kisses. The other one shows her affection by not running away screaming. Sometimes she even lets me stroke the top of her head two or three times before running away. I’ve had her longer than I’ve had him.

I think each bunny is different. I know they both like me and they are happy (as far as I can tell), but they each show it in a different way. I get how you feel, because I felt the same way when I first got bunnies. I had dogs before I had my bunnies, and dogs are just happy go lucky. Bunnies are not always that way.

The following articles from the House Rabbit Society helped me get some perspective:

                            – Life with an Aloof Rabbit by Amy Shapiro ( http://www.rabbit.org/journal/1/aloof.html )
                            – Honorary Rabbit by Amy Shapiro ( http://www.rabbit.org/journal/2-8/honorary-rabbit.html )

I still revisit these article every now and again.

                            I hope this helps!

Same here. My rabbit Panda accepts love indifferently. Sometime I feel like he’s part cat lol
