I noticed Wick’s inner most toe on one of his feet has a particularly protruding finger pad. Imagine a rabbit toe is your pointer finger. The pad of his “finger” is particularly protruded out like a small bubble. It’s regular flesh colored. I’d provide feedback on pain, but Wick always flinches when touching his feet. His back claws are all black, so his feedback on nail clipping is quite dicey. They don’t look too long though.

My only thought is that toe may get irritated from him using it to navigate the hardwood floors? My place is 50/50 vinyl floor and carpet,so he gets plenty of time and freedom on both since he’s 24/7 free roam. I’ll try and snag a picture, but it’s a weird angle.

Thoughts? Normal? It feels like it’s present on other toes, but this one sticks out more, potentially due to health issues or the fur is just disheveled there?

Update! I corrected the post to say inner most toe but I just took a closer look and it’s actually present on all back claws except the outermost. It’s like a pad where the toe is met by the claw. Some are white others are more pink.

Vet told us that normally happens when nails are too long, and that some rabbits are more prone to sore feet/toes than others. Weight can also cause sore feet/toes, since theres more uneven pressure.

Bindi has a front toe that has been like that for some time. It’s actually quite puffy and red. The vet checked it recently and said it’s not infected. I put Dermagel on it as recommended. His nails are kept as short as can be and he has a super plushy condo. I’m assuming in his case, due to his age, that it’s arthritis causing him to put more pressure on it. I wish I had some advice for you but I’m not really sure what else to do in my case, either.

Wick’s other parent looked at it (much less paranoid and level-headed than I am) and ruled it’s probably the natural look of the foot and the particularly protruding one is so due to the way Wick’s fur separates there. He doesn’t seem to be in pain nor have any qualms about putting pressure on them, and at an attempt to clip a back toe nail as a result of this appearance, it’s clear his nails are still short, as I put pressure on his quick, making him quite puffed at me, haha.

Thanks for the input and words LPT! No advice, but still helpful to know it’s something that others notice as well.

I think paranoia is a natural state of being for bunny parents.
Better safe than sorry, say I.
