I never liked the idea of litter screens before because it was the only hay place I had and I didn’t want the buns to be on a screen for extended periods of time HOWEVER I’ve since discovered that they are happy to munch on hay that is simply on the floor in a pile and most importantly they don’t poop or pee at the hay spot  I still put hay in the litter trays but as they don’t spend all of their munching time in the trays, I figured a screen might be okay. Anyone in the UK, how did you make your litter screen? I use the large cat litter trays from pets @ home.

Plastic knit mesh canvas can act as one if you can’t find a metal one.

Just googled plastic knit mesh and it looks great. Only concern is Peanut likes to eat plastic so I’d have to keep an eye on him. Does it need to be fitted somehow or do you just lay it on top of the substrate?

If you cut it so it’s a tight fit, he may not be able to get to the edges and chew them. Maybe??

Wick uses a small granule paper litter, so it naturally settles to be a great level foundation. The extent of fitting is just me cutting the litter screen to the size of the litter box. If it lays flat, a rabbit would have a hard time chewing at it unless it was so adamant as to claw the mesh up while sitting on it and chew it. Wick just sees it as a floor. Also cutting it is very easy (scissors) and it doesn’t leave sharp edges.
