So I got a bunny a few months ago and have bonded really well with him, pretty much from day one. He comes up to me for attention, gives me kisses, loves climbing on me, initiates games of tig with me and follows me round the house when I clean! He’s even litter trained himself and regularly binkys and belly flops, so he is a very clever, happy bunny! However, although he’ll display this behaviour around my husband, he barely shows any affection to him and usually just runs away from him! My husband makes the effort to stroke him and even offers him food but he’ll only really take food from me! Why is the bond not forming and is there anything he can do?

It’ll just be a time spent together and duration of relationship thing. Comparing who is around more often, who the rabbit is exposed to most in positive scenarios, etc. all come into play. But similar to human relationships, you can meet two people at the same time, but your relationship with both won’t progress at the same rate or be the same in general.

He can keep spending more time with him to what the rabbit feels comfortable accepting. Both respecting the expressed boundary and crossing over to give food will help.

Your husband could start feeding him and giving him water him water if he doesn’t already.
If your husband want a to feed him by hand he could always start with the larger vegetables and feed him then by hand. To tame my rabbit I trailed vegetables onto my lap everyday and she would get closer and closer everyday. I used to sit completely still and just let her climb on me. Your husband could also try that.i hope this helped.
