We went female bunny looking today – no luck – starting to give up on the idea
Boston is happy now , I don’t want to go through the stress of him unhappy with another bunny and the heartache

So we are thinking of a chinchilla – I had one a good 10 years ago that lived 10 years – was lots of fun
        Thinking of getting another

        Any chinchilla parents here?

We had a pair of chins before we had the buns. They were really fun!

Vet just told me we can’t have chinchillas and rabbits housed near each other at all since 80% of rabbits carry pasterella with no symptoms – chinchillas can get very sick from it being airborne even from just carriers

Yes, that is true. You shouldn’t house them together or near each other. They should be in different rooms. I do know people who have both and that is what they do. I’m not aware of any problems. It would definitely be something to take into consideration though if you want to have both.

*sigh* I remember my rambunctious little turds well. They loved our dog so much.

I miss my one too I had a brown velvet one for 10 years
Seperate rooms is too hard here as we are open plan except bedrooms

Looking into it further though with vet today it appears I will better to not look at getting one with our open plan and Boston using that area

Yeah, ours were over 10 years old. Not sure how old they really were.
