Hey! Sometimes my bunnies are shaking but laying down in a relaxed position. What does this mean? Are they scared?

Do you mean like shaking with each breath? Some rabbits do that sometimes. It seems like it’s a normal rabbit thing. It’d be good if you could film it for us and upload to f ex Google Drive or Flickr or suchlike.

Their ears and body would be shaking. And they would be breathing fast. At the same time they are laying in a relaxed position.

Yes, I’ve read about this in posts from several other members, plus my own bun Yohio used to do that. It doesn’t seem to mean anything bad. It does look a bit on the dramatic side though. I very much doubt it’s fear. My Yohio often did so under my writing desk while I was sitting there. A fearful bun doesn’t flop relaxedly, esp not right next to the human’s feet. Maybe it could be some form of heat regulation? My bun Bam never does it, but he’s a placid bunny that never plays hard, he’s for example never done the bunny 500s, or more than one semi-binky at a time.

Thor does this too sometimes, does it look kind-of like a very small head bob? Good to know it’s probably normal!

It’s hard to be sure without seeing them, but I think what you are describing is their normal sleeping! They sometimes lie on their sides and twitch while asleep (maybe they are dreaming?) and will stop twitching when they wake up. Rabbits usually sleep with their eyes open, so it can be hard to tell. If your rabbits only do this behavior when otherwise very relaxed, it’s probably fine. Is that what you are seeing, or something else?
