        Hi everyone!

It’s my first time posting here so I’m sorry if this is in the wrong section, I just need some advice/opinions. On Wednesday my 9 year old rabbit Chino had a dental. They put him under anaesthetic and filed his teeth to normal size.
He’s been home for 2 days and he’s eating LOADS, drinking lots and pooping. However, today when he poops he seems kind of stressed out. At one point he stamped his feet when he was pooping. He then put his head down there, it seems like he’s ‘helping the poop out’ of his butt. (TMI sorry )

He has passed some poops but I can hear his tummy gurgling I’ve never heard it before. Like when us humans are hungry. I’m thinking he might have gas? He seems frustrated when he tries to go to toilet and his tummy sounds rumbley. He’s laying down now chilling out but I hate seeing him not 100%

We went to our vet yesterday and she prescribed Metacan and Emeprid. Would it be worth giving him one of those?

        Any help is much appreciated!

It seems he has a bad case of gas. Baby gas drops (simethicone) are often helpful when a rabbit has gas. Give 0,5-1 ml every hour for 3 hours. It often helps within 30 min. A very gentle belly massage or just a gentle elevation of his butt can also be helpful. Some buns like to sit in their human’s knee when they have gas. It’s could partly be that the like being warmed up by our body heat. Gas/tummy issues often make a bunny cold.If this doesn’t resolve itself within a couple of hours, go back to the vet. The stomping is not a good sign, in cases of gas its a sign of considerable pain.

Emeprid is a gut motility drug, Metacam is against pain. You can give both if there’s been some poop.

Poop info is never TMI when rabbits are concerned. Poop is among our best diagnostic tools and clues to our rabbits’ health. We’re all of us pretty much obsessed with poop here =)
