Worried about my Big Boy. Sterling is going in the am for his dental. He started drooling a bit on one side so I had his teeth checked last week. He has one really long tooth and some that are uneven.

Bindi goes for dentals every 5 months or so and always comes through like a champ, but I lost Olivia during her first routine dental. And not knowing how old Sterling is, I’m worried.  And he’s also difficult to handle. He is pretty easy going unless you are trying to do something to him. I have to almost wrestle with him to wipe the drool off his mouth….I wonder if he had been badly treated previously. Hard to get a 11 lb bunny to do something he doesn’t want to do. So I’m REALLY hoping he’s content and willing to eat on his own afterward.

I hope that Sterling will do well with the dental procedure and be able to eat normally when he comes home.

Im sad for you that he has some signs of teeth problems. Hopefully the trim will keep his teeth even for a long time.

Thanks everyone. Just dropped him off. It’s so hard to wait for the call that he’s done and okay. They usually call me early to mid afternoon.

I asked for them to do pre-anaesthetic blood work since we don’t know his age, but the tech wasn’t sure if they could do it or not. She said they usually send all exotic blood work away for testing now. Which is weird and disappointing. Having the basic bloodwork done beforehand helps put my mind at ease.

good luck Sterling, if its the same vet that saw Olivia I’m sure he or she will pay special bunny attention, if it isn’t the same vet there should be some warning notes, or owners concerns, Sterling might like a small piece of banana when he gets home, he’ll be very sleepy and a bit groggy for a few days and a bit fed up when he comes home, good luck big boy.

Just seeing this now – I hope everything went well. Lots of healthy vibes for Sterling from Olaf and I. Sometimes I think our little fighters, while often frustrating, have a strong will to pull through a lot. Fingers crossed for an easy procedure and healthy teeth. <3.

Thanks everyone. Sorry for the late update. Been a crazy busy day. He made out well but he’s still very dopey. They did end up sending the blood work out so instead of his procedure being in the a.m. he only ended up going under in the afternoon. Blood work was good but they had to sedate him to take it. I’m just getting home now, it’s 9 pm. We had tickets to the Wiggles concert so my husband picked him up after work at 6. He ate a little bit of veggies but he’s really really sleepy. I just gave him some Metacam. Hopefully he will have a good night’s sleep and be right as rain in the morning.

                                    Glad to hear.

And, yay the Wiggles! My neice (2 3/4 yrs old) loves Emma, of course. Good thing too, as black and yellow are her Dad’s fav football team colours.

I woke up this morning to all his food gone so that’s a good thing. He’s still a bit quite and sleeping in his house. I think he’s peeved off at me……

Evi loves Emma too. It was neat to see them in person after watching them on TV for so long. They do an amazing show.

The vet said his teeth were pretty bad which may indicate he’s older than I thought he was. She also thinks it could have been from him being raised as a barn bunny with a pellet only diet (he probably was as he was found dumped in a rural area with another bunny). He probably feels much better now.

And I get the joy of trying to give him his Metacam and Baytril for the next week…….Bunny Wrestling……

Oh boy… It’s very hard to keep a bunny down who doesn’t want to take his meds. Breintje usually ends up with it everywhere on his face, except for in his mouth. Luckily he mostly licks it up when he’s washing, but still. Hope it’ll go well!

It should be declared an Olympic event
