        Hello,

I was petting my 7 week old lop, Judy, and noticed a small cluster of crusty yellow chunks in the corner of her mouth. She has been eating and drinking fine, and doesn’t seem to be in pain. However, I am a bit concerned about it. Have any of you seen anything similar before?

The first thing I come to think of is rabbit syphilis or vent disease. It’s curable with penicillin G shots.

I’m not saying this is what it is, just that crusts in that area is a possible sign of this common rabbit disease.

Forgot to mention, she chewed on a sharp bar the other day and slightly nicked that part of her mouth. It bled a bit but wasn’t much of a gash. If it is related to that, could it potentially be just dead skin? Do scabs look like that?

It could be infected. Have you arranged a vet visit? Considering rabbits don’t really touch sanitary places with their mouth, an infection is possible. Arrange one with a rabbit-experienced vet ASAP.

Could be! Personally, I would get it checked out just to be sure.
