My boys were given their first treatment of Revolution on Sunday. I’m just curious when the mites will actually be gone from their bodies. Bombur is much better, but I noticed a brand new area of flaking and “dirt” like substance on a different part of his shoulders.

Thought the majority of mites will be killed, they will remain dead in the fur for some time. Brushing them out can help, though your rabbit is likely to wash them out themselves over time
Revolution normally comes in more than one dose-as eggs and stuff remain on surfaces etc, so the net dose normally helps to kill any of the late hatchers.

It’s active for 8 days. When Bam had mites the flaking got like a lot worse two days after his first round of treatment. I’m assuming it was the dead mites that de-attached and the thickened skin fell off with them. I brushed all of it off.

I did a repeat treatment after 3 weeks, and that time I found a bit of flaking at the base of his tail, where there wasn’t any before.

Interesting that we can have a flea problem with our two house rabbits.  They never go outside, mainly because they won’t go outside.

When my wife first wanted to know how they got fleas, I said they probably got fleas from you!  I quickly followed up by saying they could have gotten fleas from me.  I think fleas are in the grass.  We have feral cats with fleas, birds have fleas, there’s a parade of people walking their dogs on the sidewalk in front of our house.  My wife spends time outside standing watering plants and that’s a good opportunity to get a flea to hop on.  Same with me just walking on the lawn.  So they were dosed with Revolution on Sunday also. We use the vial size for 15 to 25 pound animals.  Our Flemms are on the smallish size….they weigh a spritely 15 pounds.

Asriel LOVES to be brushed, so I won’t have a problem with that! Every time I try to inspect the area he gets so excited I’m going to brush him.
