Alright. So I have a little children’s ice pack from the dollar store that I frequently use. It’s filled with these little non toxic squishy gel beads. Today, I picked it up and it must have popped, because all of a sudden the little gel beads started flying everywhere. Of course this happened in the room with the rabbits. I dilligantly picked up each little ball and swept them up. The problem is, I stupidly left the dustpan still containing a few balls on the floor, and out of habit I let the rabbits out to play. I have no idea if they got into them or not. I know they’re labeled as non toxic, but I’m not sure if that’s relevant in terms of rabbits. Both of them are acting normal. I’m just extremely worried.

What was the ice pack called? You can try googling what is in gel balls and then googling to see if any of those ingredients are toxic to bunnies.

I found them online but I can’t find the actual ingredients anywhere. https://www.dollartree.com/Kids-Reusable-Animal-Shaped-Cold-Packs/p309558/index.pro#
It’s the little elephant ice pack from the dollar tree line of dollar stores. The only specifications are that they are non toxic

From what I can find, there’s there’s often sth very absorbent in gel beads called sodium polyacrylate. It’s the same stuff that’s used in diapers. It’s not toxic but it absorbs water and can absorb water from the stomach and cause trouble. The risk here would be GI obstruction rather than poisoning. So keep an eye on your rabbits with regards to appetite and poop.

Oh my goodness thank you so much for the useful info! You’re a blessing. I’ll definitely keep on eye on all that stuff.
