Does anyone here do clicker training with their rabbit?  If you do, what type of treat do you use?  My bunny has grown less interested in the little bits of kale I was using.  Polly Oliver is smart, but seems unmotivated by what I give her to do more than one repetition of the behavior.  So far, I haven’t offered her any fruit or any commercial rabbit treats, since she was a baby, but I guess at 6 months old I can introduce very small portions of fruit.  I was thinking of trying some willow leaves (ordered online), but I was hesitant to buy them because of the price.  I think I may have to offer her something that I don’t also just give away for free in her food dish in the mornings   She’s no dummy.

I was using their pellets for clicker training but had no luck. They seemed to get too excited to pay attention to the clicker? I’m not sure. I’ve started using one or two pieces of dried chicory root which they love. I’ve completely changed my tactics too but I’m still not seeing any progress. I will not give up tho!

I would introduce a herb or veggie and use that. Fruit can be good but obviously due to sugar content, you’re a bit limited to how much you can give.

I hope it’s not against the rules to revive my old topic from the dead, just let me know if it is.

I tried some different herbs and veggies, but while she will eat them, she’s not motivated enough to do tricks for them. I ended up making a batch of bunny cookies, which Polly Oliver got really excited about and started clucking for the first time. Broken into tiny pieces, they are great as a reward and she is doing really well with the clicker training.

I just makes my own bunny cookies using a handful of oregano, a handful of mint and 1 large banana mixed with 1 cup of oats or pellets (might be more than one cup, can’t remember) ….. I have lots of mint and oregano in my garden so I suppose that might be a reason why I use mint/ oregano but my body when I said to love them to two herbs, goes crazy for them but hates carrots ….. go figure lol
