Good ideas! I have two grids for hayracks that flip up and are held by clips-but my buns prefer hay straight in the litter box.

I’ve had many in my experimenting until I finally went for one like this
( will pop photo in below post )
It’s only one that worked for me- some were to easy to empty for my boy- or didn’t hold enough – or too hard to get the hay from the middle once edges hay parts were eaten – or if open top he would jump in and pee on it as he would if it’s in his tray

I’ve tried diy wood ones, basket ones , wire ones , kids toys converted to them ones, astore brought wooden ones, ikea hack ones , diy fabric bag ones – it’s been a real headache!

This simple basic cheap one is the one that worked for me. It’s easy to fill from the outside – Boston can get to every piece of hay since hay from back and top falls forward as he eats the front hay, easy to get out for him , doesn’t spill easy, he can’t pee in it

I love the new ideas! I need to get a couple more hay racks for when I get some more litter boxes for around the house and in the cage. (I’m having a heck of a time litter training) lol

Built this early in the year, I call it the haystack. Its just T&G Spruce cladding cut and nailed together with a storage container inside also cut (the door). built like a chimney breast, it has a pivoting top (by using 1 nail) to load hay and side guards that force her to eat in the box and thus contain the litter. the little alcove has a heavy glass of water which cant be tipped over. This was my own original design and still works great, if not a little chewed now. I’ll eventually re-build it in thick hardwood. Hope this inspires someone
