a while ago i wrote about my rabbit not being able to move her back leg a lot has happened but her vet who is specialized in treating rabbits said it was best to cut it off because her the nerves are basically dead she cannot move it whatsoever i’m going to do what’s best for my rabbit and let the vet do what she gotta do but i want to be prepared and ready to take care of a rabbit with three legs what are some things or changes i should expect from my rabbit after the surgery, will she be okay or will it take sometime for her to get used to it if any of you have any advice or the do’s and don’ts that would be great i want my rabbit to be 100% happy and comfortable and i want to be the best friend she ever has i don’t want to be lacking in any way so please any advice or tips are welcomed i just want to know what to expect , thank you in advance.

I’m so sorry this has happened to your rabbit. I don’t have any personal experience, I only know what I’ve read here and in other places. Losing a hind leg is better than losing a fore leg. It seems rabbits adapt very well to being three legged. There are risks involved with surgery of course, but if your vet tells you this needs to be done, I assume the risks of not doing it are greater. Is she dragging her leg now?

I hope you get answers from people with more experience than I have. We have members with 3-legged buns, but I don’t know if any of them are currently active.
