So I put down a deposit on an angora kit that I had only seen pictures of. A few days later my 17 yo sister bought a flemish giant kit who was about 6-8 weeks old. Its a he. And when she vrought him home he was eating but not pooping for over 12 hours except mucous amd then he stopped eating. So I went there to force feed water and this baby flemish giant who was reserved and scared instantly came to me, layed on me, nudged my hands to pet him, and cuddled with me and I fell in love. My sister couldn’t believe he was doing that because he was completely petrified of anyone else and would run and was scared to death. I took him home with me that night to keep am eye on him amd continue to force feed if necessary, which after 2 forced syringes of 10cc he was pooping again. And he hasn’t left me since. Lol it was like love at first sight between the two of us and its been a couple days now and he is still as cuddly as ever and follows me around, plays, and nips&nudges if I stop petting him or paying attention to him. So I told the breeder I was no longer interested in the angora kit, and am keeping “stitch” as ive named him. Have any of you had a similar situation where you instantly had a connection with a bun and they have a connection with you. I attached a pics of him snuggling with me for over an hour on the couch
And if u can’t see the pic its going to be on my profile picture.

I haven’t had that happen but Boston locked eyes with me at the petstore and we were not looking for a bunny – he did not take his eyes off me the whole time I was looking at the rabbit toy stand next to him . I looked over to see him head tilting and STILL looking at me , I watched him stretch to attempt to reach the hay hanging far to far above his head for him to reach – and he was STILL looking at me. I told the staff he needed a vet – and he was still looking at me. I left with that image of him sitting there sick and helpless and the sense of his inner soul imprinted on me – 3 days later he hadn’t been seen by a vet despite them saying he would be – so I brought him to take him to my vet.
First day he cuddled me and flopped on me and loved one me instantly. I knew he was meant to be in our family – and he knew it too

How is your sister about you keeping him?
So glad you have him and chose each other
Is he eating lots of hay now? I’d stay away from fruit and vegetables for awhile since he has had a sensitive tummy – just get the flora of his stomach proper first with hay , pellets and water
Is he on a good pellet? Like oxbow , burgess or sherwood?

Awe that’s awesome. And I’m happy you got him to a vet. I hate pet stores for that reason.they should not be able to sell animals in my opinion because they don’t genuinely care about them they are in it for the profit not forthe health of the animals. But now he has a forever home.

She is fine with it. I paid her back for him and he is on a strict diet of only hay for a week or so till his stomach is better and then ill gradually intoduce pellets then give them to him unlimited. Each time he has pellets it messes up,his stomach. He was on hay only before I got him. I beleive he was weaned too early. The breeder was not a good one where she got him from amd won’t answer my calls so i can know how old he is even or what she had him on. He was stuffed in a small cage with about 10 other babies. He has umlimited hay and water right now though and is free range in my living room amd kitchen and is just like a puppy and doing alright with litter training. And I hve him on naturewise performance rabbit feed, 18% pellet. I was told that it is a good quality pellet

I’ve not heard of that pellet before so I have no idea sorry

But go slowly as you are and even when you reintroduce them do it small amounts more each day

I’m glad it all worked out for stitch , you and your sister

Something not very dissimilar happened to me, Panda and Fernando. Friends of Rabbits, my local rabbit rescue, had already introduced me to at least one bonded pair, with whom I didn’t feel any particular sparks strike, but I’d been planning to have a second, longer meeting with them. However, at the same adoption event, I met Panda and her four kits (that was before the other three were adopted), and Fernando came up to me and started grooming my hand. I’d never heard in my research of a rabbit grooming a total stranger’s hand, so I was intrigued and arranged for a second meeting with him and his mother Panda at a local pet store. Well, Fernando started grooming me again on both hand and leg and asking for pets, and it was pretty much all over but the shouting at that point. (Panda, of course, was more reserved!) Fortunately, the buns’ foster mom had brought all the necessary adoption paperwork, so we got it done on the spot and two weeks later after I’d gotten and assembled their bunny condo and all the other gear they needed, they came home…

That’s so sweet that he just bonded to you like that. I had that somewhat with Apollo. While he didn’t seem to care about me too much, I knew as soon as the rescue lady plopped him down on my lap that he was the one. I don’t know what it was, but as soon as I saw him I just knew that I had to bring him home with me, that he was meant to come home with us. So we ended up with Luna his bond mate too And Apollo is a complete sweetheart and is always begging for love.

Aw that’s great that you took him on and basically made him all better! What a sweet story

When me and my partner decided to get rabbits (well, I decided I wanted some and he reluctantly agreed lol) we phoned a breeder that we’d found online. I originally wanted two girls but all she had left from the litter was one male and one female. We went to view them but on the drive up, we were worrying a bit/getting cold feet wondering if we should go ahead as we’re not actually allowed animals in our rented property. So we thought we’ll view, come away and chat and then decide. Well as soon as I saw them I wanted them. I held Peanut, he looked so content. Partner held Buttercup and she fell asleep in his arms <3

That is a really sweet story!
Just a word on the pellet-its like a breeder pellet. It’s designed for speed of growth and maximizing litters. There are a lot of pellets actually designed for young rabbits, which I would recommend you try and get a hold of instead.
It’s not that its a “bad” pellet, its just a pellet with a purpose. And it sounds like stitch doesnt have the tummy for it unfortunately- and I’d very much not recommend it for such a young bunny. I find that selective has always been popular with my rabbits, but optionally maybe some oxbow critical care would help ensure he gets enough to make sure he grows?

Yea I’m going to check them out. Pellets are SO confusing. Even, more so than dog food. Lol I am going to check out the pellets you listed and just fove the 40lb bag I have away. I just saw 18 % protein and the rifht amount of fiber and figured it was good amd when I asked the people at running they reccomended it. (I knew I shouldn’t have listened to them considering they have a store bunny and it has only straw to eat, and an empty hutch to be in and it gets walks around the store every few weeks and is on cedar bedding. Smh. You would think a farm store would be more educated.
