So Ive just checked my rabbit Lucy and im 99% sure she has fur mites. We live in Australia and im just wondering has anyone tried using the vetafarm insect and mite spray for rabbits? I have tried researching but there arent too many reveiews. The couple of read said that the product was good and would use again but i need more info. And is it safe to use while she is still on her last run of panacur? (She hasnt had much luck) she is back to her normal self except for the head tilt and mites. The ingreients of the vetafarm are below but honestly doesnt mean much to me in terms of I have no idea!

        6.25g/L Piperonyl Butoxide, 1.25g/L Permethrin (40:60), 20mg/L Methoprene

        Thanks for any help/advice!

I only use it on carpet and furnishings. For flea and mite treatment directly on my buns I use Revolution kitten or Cat, Advantage Kitten or Cat or Advocate kitten or cat.

I wouldn’t use it directly on a rabbit. Both Piperonyl Butoxide and Permethrin can cause adverse reactions.

This page is on ear mites, but if you scroll down they talk about OTC products containing those ingredients:

We are fortunate in Australia because we can by Revolution without prescription. Its more pricey then the mite spray but very effective!

Thanks guys. I have been pretty unwell since writing this but my sister did get some rabbit mite spray. I did not use it though as it had no instructions written on it. Did not trust it at all. I am getting the revolution kitten one today for her though. So hopefully it gets rid of the mites quickly.

Ive taken to using coconut oil on my bun. I’m having the same problem as you are and I have my bun booked for a surgury so I can’t afford another visit for revolution.

I take just enough to lightly coat my hands and rub on his fur. This way he doesn’t feel the need to lick himself off. I’m not sure of the science on it. But given that bunnies are sensitive to other natural things that work like tea trea oil. It’s a good alternative if you want to go all natual. Just know that your bun might poop a bit more because they will injest some and it has some laxative properteries.
