In the future, probably next summer, I will get a bunny to bond with Leo. I am looking at mini lops, but Leo is a mini rex. Is it posable to bond these two breeds even know they are different sizes? My cousins used to have two bunnies (don’t know what their sexes were or if they were fixed) She said the bigger one started humping the smaller one and the bigger one accidentally killed the smaller one. So I’m wondering if I should get a smaller breed or if size doesn’t matter.

Personality matters more than size but it would be better to get closeish in size rather than say, put a netherland dwarf with a giant breed. It would be too easy for a much bigger rabbit to hurt the smaller one. But some size difference can be fine if the personalities work together. I have a bonded trio consisting of a tiny netherland dwarf (under 1 kilo), a rex cross (I think around 2.2 kilos), and an angora (2.5 kilos). I am currently adding a nethie x dwarf lop (1.2 kilos) to the mix. My little nethie loves having a big fluffy angora to snuggle with/under/on when it’s cold!

The main thing is to make sure both buns are neutered/spayed and to follow a safe and careful bonding procedure – time to settle, pre-bonding, then bonding. But you do have plenty of time to research anything you don’t already know. Good luck!
