Clem for example while being able to sleep while I’m vacuuming about her cage and do bunny flops she ABSOLUTELY hates measuring tapes, the ones that are in a case and kids like playing with. When I first brought it in her room to measure a space for her new cage, she started thumping non stop, even if I was on the other side of the room.

Maybe she thought it was a snake?

I’d like to hear what other weird things other buns don’t like, but so far that is the only thing she doesn’t appreciate.

Extra addition: I thought you guys might enjoy her bunnyflop pictures. This cage is sort of an experiment, it offers more room but I had to continue using her green bottom because she gets hay in her water bowl and needed a bigger litterbox. And out of irony, the coroplast says “Owner’s expense”

I love a floppy bunny picture

Peanut has a strong aversion to the smell of garlic.

It’s good he knows what’s bad for him. I caught her sleeping like that, she didn’t notice me coming in or leaving when I took these pictures.

Panda and Fernando have an annoying habit of getting hay in their water bowl too. This is a big, heavy crockery affair, holding up to 4 cups or so, that I bought at Pet Supplies Plus several weeks ago. Then again, they have a habit of strewing hay (and poops) hither and yon, so.

As to odd fears/dislikes, I haven’t really noticed any yet, but it’s early days. Then again, Fernando has a surprisingly stiff-upper-lip attitude to having the bunny condo rolled around while he’s in it; he generally stays where he is and carries on with whatever he’s doing. Panda heads for the tall timber, which is to say, one of the hidey boxes upstairs.

Ophelia HATES shushing. When she first came home some idiots in my complex were throwing fireworks in the dumpster and the loud echoes terrified her. I tried to calm her down by patting and going “shhhhhh” but she ran away immediately and started thumping! Any time I do it she stops and stares at me. Or if I pull the trash can across the kitchen floor it kinda makes the same noise and she freaks out lol

Poor Ophelia  I also dislike people who do things such as that, the kids here love using fireworks a week before 4th of July and one of the dogs is terrified of it and gets so stressed.

That is a weird thing to be afraid of, the shhh. Our other rabbit is scared of paper being ripped, while me and Clem had a paper ripping party for a new dig box, so it took longer than usual.

It’s a big pain, she also flings her pellet bowl or just tries to throw the water fountain all together, I’m not sure what to call it, it has a big attachable water bottle and works with gravity  I’m thinking of finding a way to lift it because while she’s shedding she also gets fur into it.

I’m sure you’ll find something funny they’re scared of eventually. I had Clem for 5 months now and it wasn’t until a few weeks ago that I found out.

That reminds me that I had Panda fling a hay-stuffed toilet paper roll at me one day last week while I was cleaning out the litterbox.  She’s not been especially territorial so far about the condo or its contents, so that was rather startling.

Does he also detest egg and spring rolls? I’m pretty sure they’re made with cabbage, too.

He’s ok with cabbage. I think it’s the filling he hates – the combo of bacon and mince and fried onion and dried thyme. lol

Peep is terrified bananas and pineapple. It’s not even moderate dislike-offer him either and he will bolt away and flatten himself to the ground ears pinned back.

Bertha isn’t phased by much, but Moose and Bunston both hate(d) sizzling kitchen sounds… not sure if it’s the onion/garlic smell or the sound?

I wonder if bunnies have anything against long yellow thing, that seems to be a theme here. We love cabbage rolls here, although I haven’t made it yet myself. It may be both, the smell tells them danger and the sizzling may sound like a huge snake hissing.

This is new knowledge to me but my partner let me know the other night that Daryl hates the sound of ring pulls on cans. I asked him what he meant and he said “well whenever i sit there at night with a can and I ‘ping, ping, ping’ it he always thumps at me” I was really annoyed and he got a telling off. To be fair though Daryl acts like a grumpy old man at most things

My boy hates hideaways , he has vision issues and was kept in a tiny glass tank at petstore from 6 weeks old – and a tiny hutch before that at “breeders” he could barely stand in

I think all those factors caused this

One of my bunnies, Hannah, has a fear of the dark. We noticed it the first night we brought her home from the shelter. As soon as it got dark, she started looking uneasy and would nervously look around. If she is on the screened porch when it starts getting dark, she goes to this particular place, behind a post and looks out, as if she is checking to make sure there aren’t any scary things outside the porch. We keep several night lights on in the house when we go to bed, so that she will feel more comfortable. Her companion luckily is not afraid of the dark.

Ailis is pretty wary if Im wearing dark clothing. She’ll hide until Ive left the room.

Timbu doesn’t like the “brrrttt” raspberry noise you can make with your mouth. I actually now use this to get him off the bed if he’s being particularly annoying. ie. digging at and chewing the sheets at 4am.

Terry isn’t a huge fan of my dog – he is better now than when he first arrived home, but still avoids her. The girls just do what he does, so they avoid the dog too.

Then there is Greebo. Who now can’t be in the same room as the dog without supervision because he goes out of his way to hype her up. But she is a staffy x red heeler with brain damage. Hype her up too bad and she can’t focus, no matter how hard she tries. So while I will let him stir her up a bit and let her follow him and nose him a bit, myself or husband needs to be there to help keep them at a calm enough level that Mitzi can still think! Greebo isn’t really scared of anything though. Been trying to do stress bonding with Terry – but finding something that stresses Greebo and doesn’t make Terry have a meltdown is a tricky balance. We have discovered making the wash basket go up and down rather than shake it seems to work a bit!

This, I think, doesn’t count as a weird fear/dislike, but I learned yesterday in the process of cleaning their bunny condo that neither Panda nor Ferdinand cares one bit for the sound of the Dust Buster. I turned it on to scoop up the poops and hay strands from the upper deck, and both buns scarpered without a moment’s delay to the litterbox on the lower level and stayed there till the all-clear. I had to give them each an Oxbow baked peppermint treat by way of apology.

Weirdly enough, neither of my buns like carrots! They love just about every other fruit or veggie I’ve given them (all safe of course), but if you put a little piece of carrot in front of them, they really couldn’t care less! They go crazy for carrot tops though.

I made hamburgers last evening and the two were distinctly uneasy during the proceedings, until I shut down the stove.

Hmmm, it could be the sound. They haven’t reacted noticeably badly to the smell of meat dishes being cooked in the oven, and they calmed down pretty well once the grill pan had been taken off the heat and the sizzling stopped.

They absolutely have learned very quickly that goodies are often kept in plastic bags. Every single time I open a food bag, even if it contains something inedible for bunnies, they perk up and come running if the X-pen is up, or at least crowd up at the condo grids. And when I open a bag near them to take out a couple of Oxbow treats, they go purely nuts.

Wick doesn’t really mind either way, but I need to pre-cut them, and drying them is key so they last the week in the fridge without getting gross and pink.

When it is in front of her, she can’t see it but runs into it, and she attacks it. It is funny (I do help her get away from it though, I am not mean.) to watch and I am pretty sure there is a YouTube video of it.
