I have a 4 years and 10 month old dwarf lion head male rabbit who is litter trained. He was doing fine this morning but I walked in to check on him and he is seems really sick. He can’t sit comfortably at all. He will sit or lay down and then get up and re adjust immediately. Sometimes he will sit up or lay o his stomach and then being to crawl backwards. He is also sneezing and mildly grinding on his teeth. At one point when he crawled backwards, he sat up and I could hear him pee very rapidly on the carpet. This is weird because he is litter trained and has never once peed on the carpet. I’m a really worried mama, plead hell.

Best to contact a rabbit savvy vet by phone to be safe. Try not to worry. Check he hasn’t eaten anything unusual or harmful for rabbits. The sooner you can get the vet to see him the better as a general rule about all health related things Try and be calm around the rabbit as well as I believe that will help. You can take the suggestions from us on this forum to the vet but really a vet who specialises in rabbits and who has seen him in person is likely in the best position to help your bunny.

            Hi Evelyn

Rabbits that have a bit of gas pain often re-posture like this. Many house rabbit peeps give their rabbits some infant gas meds in the 1st instance to see if it will help. Do you have any at home?
In my experience it normally helps within 20-30 minutes. BUT, if simethicone doesn’t help, it is important to get them checked out. It could gas pain, a blockage or excess fur moving throught the intestines or it could be pain not related to gastro intestinal tract at all.

When my rabbits are not feeling well, they’ll pee on the floor. Well, sometimes one of my girls pees on the floor near the litterbox as a territorial behaviour but if she did it anywhere else, I would be watching for other signs of illness.
