Hi all! I give Cinnabun these apple chew sticks from Amazon. They are really great and she LOVES them. She usually just chews off the bark and goes through 5 sticks in a day. I replace them every so often and have already gone through an entire bag. These are the ones that I get: https://www.amazon.com/Chinchilla-S…hew+sticks

I noticed earlier today however, when I gave her new sticks, that she was actually EATING one of them. Nope, not just chewing, eating. I thought she was actually eating a piece of hay until further inspection when I saw that she was eating the wooden chew stick and gobbled the whole thing up!

Is it safe for her to be eating? She has eaten parts of it before but not an entire twig! I’m a little concerned that it would do not-so-great things to her digestive system, to have all that wood in there, but I’m not sure. I’ve tried researching on whether or not they should be eating this kind of stuff and mostly have read stuff about chewing only. Any insight is appreciated!

My trixie has these aswell and she is an absolute machine when getting through them. As far as I know they would eat things like this if they were in the wild? The sticks I get come in varying thickness, with the thick ones she just strips the bark but the thinner ones she will just chew straight up. I get a lot of satisfaction knowing that she eats these because of how it will wear down her teeth. I think they are good because you should provide them with different things that require their teeth to work in different ways. As long as the poops are still okay of pretty sure they are fine? I’m sure someone else on here might have a bit more solid facts for you
