My rabbits urine is cloudy and yellow, is this normal urine ?? He is reaching five months of age now. My guess is his pellets, which I do not want to take away because he is still growing up.

From everything I have read, urine can range from yellow to red/brown and be totally normal. Some aspects of diet can cause urine to be red/brown, but from my understanding, urine is only problematic when it is clear or sludge.

Do you feed veggies yet? My male bunny had cloudy yellow urine before he had veggies introduced. My female, who had been eating veggies, had a cloudy red/orange urine that FREAKED me out, but then I was told it was normal.

The one time I’ve seen either of my buns’ urine, it was bright-yellow, close to orange; I still don’t know whose it was. They’re usually very good about doing all their peeing in the litterbox so it all goes down through the hay into the litter. I feed them a big bowl of spring mix every evening, so I will need to continue observing to see how it affects their urine color. I actually know a lot more about their feces, considering they’re dropping those little light-brown hard dry balls everywhere! (Well, not literally everywhere – most of them are in or near the litterbox; but I’m looking at one obviously territorial poop sitting right next to the X-pen 18 inches or so away from this computer.)
