Boston has a storage run with a tiered rack shelf in it to stop him sitting in the urine and eating the pine pellets – but he’s recently started lifting himself over the side as he backs up to pee and peeing all over the ground because of it … any ideas of what to use as a urine gaurd ?

Also if I can’t sort this I’ll have to go for a high side cat tray – but that meansy tiered shelf will not fit in it as a grid to keep him off his litter … those who don’t have a grid / grill how do you keep bunnies feet clean of urine??
I use pine pellets and they mush when wet and it used to go all over my bunnies feet urine staining them

What about attaching acrylic or plastic to the back where he lifts his bum?

In regards to stains, i’ve never had an issue with feet staining. I use wood pellet litter that turns to sand when wet. I’ve not had any staining with Peanut but he’s a black rabbit. Buttercup has very clean feet and she’s white Occasionally they’ll look a little yellowish but after she cleans them they’re white again so no stains.

I have clear acrylic guard plates all around the lower deck of my bunny condo. Those came in handy the other day when I found out that one of the buns had been using a corner as a toilet because apparently the litterbox isn’t quite long enough (see my separate thread on the Great Litterbox Hunt).

What about one of those flexible plastic cutting boards?

Boston sometimes does really red or orange pee and would lay in it and come out a red rabbit prior to adding the tiered tray as a grill… I’m much happier with the grill in and him not laying in the pee however he’s peeing over …
I spent today hunting for a bigger tray – that will still fit the tier tray inside it – and has higher sides than my current one ( but maybe one low still at front for access ) but no luck!

They were all high on all 4 sides ( so hard to get in )
                    Or wouldn’t fit their tray

I will try find the cutting boards and see if they can fit in the sides – do you have a link to type you mean Q8 ?

Sarah do you put anything ontop of the pine pellets? Hay or anything?

So for now I’ve taken the tier shelf out and instead if using this storage tub and plastic foot rest mat ( a blue one ) as a grid

So far today it’s working well – no pee on Boston yet
And he can’t pee over it now as the foot mat sits a lot lower to the bottom of storage tub than the teired shelf did meaning he would have to pee reallllllly high to pee over
