Hey guys! I just finished building my rabbits new cage. Its about 20 square feet. But that includes the landing, this was a lot of work! He started to eat the wood frames and was really messing them up so if you look you can see I added extra wood above them, I drilled holes in them and wired them on. The floor of the cage has stick on tiles but the top I left bare, the fleece sticks to it well that way!

Tell me what you think, Hope you enjoyed this!

Good job! I wish I had the skills to do that – I had to buy my bunny condo off eBay and then put it all together, which took me three evenings.

OH WOW! Um… it’s bigger than the studio apartment I had in law school.

Nice job! I am kinda wishing now that I had used chicken wire instead of the hardware cloth… the cloth is a lot harder to manipulate!! The lowe’s near my house only had the chicken wire with big holes though, and I didn’t want any curious buns getting themselves stuck

Thanks, and I think they are both a pain to work with. The stretching, stapling, cutting… And them they chew on your masterpiece

But I think its better you didn’t use the big chicken wire, You wouldn’t want to come home to your rabbits head stuck! Thanks for the reply!

This looks great. I think it’s a nice alternative to some of the other diy habitats you see. If more people see things like this it will hopefully encourage others to increase the size of their buns living areas and get creative. i like seeing things like this on here because I think it gives people more inspiration for housing even if they do take a lot of work. I’m sure it’s well worth it in the end. I also love the little name sign

I agree with Q8, just add a chimney and open fireplace and I’ll be moving in !!!

Ya I agree thanks! It was worth it, my rabbit does not get as much out of cage play time because I have dogs so he needed a big cage. One of the reasons I was able to build it so big is because its on top of my diy dog cage which is 4/4 feet! But I’m glad you liked it!

Oh wow, that looks great! I wish I was as handy as you and could make something like this to keep in my living room. It would protect my rabbits from the cats (perhaps would make a roof, too) and could have ‘social time’ with all the pets all together. Super duper job!

Thanks! And don’t get discouraged it wasn’t that hard it was more of a time thing. I put it on top of my dogs cage (it use to be for a big dog but we converted it into two for our little dogs, now one side is storage and the other is for my dog tippy) I just used some 98 cents beams from home depot and got a roll of chicken wire, staplegun(already had), handsaw (the one for pvc  pipes works best), wire, drill…

My mom builds all of our furniture and is really good with that kinda stuff so she helped me plan it out!

Maybe I should just make a video on it some time! THanks!

Thanks! And no its on top of a dog cage my mom built, It has two doors it was for two small dogs but now we just have one little dog, so one side of the cage I use as storage for all the rabbits stuff. Ill post a pic sometime. I put it on top of that because its High up so I can stand while working with him. He doesn’t jump out though. lol
