I have 2 rabbits, Mini Rex male (1 year old, have had him for 7 months) and Holland Lop male (4 months old, have had him for about a month), and they both do this thing where they squat (they look like a dog does when it’s pooping) and pop their butt/thrust quickly. A sound is made of something hitting the floor/surface theyre on (I think it’s their feet but I don’t know). They do it 3-4 times in a row. I’ve looked up “thumping” videos but none that I watched showed a rabbit in the position mine go in. Also, they have been kept in separate rooms for the time being until they are both neutered and completely healed.

The noise you describes certainly seems to be like when a rabbit thumps. But the positioning sounds more like when a rabbit is getting ready to eat it’s cecatrophs. Im not really sure what else to make of it! Hopefully another member may have more of an idea or sees their own rabbit(s) doing something like this.

ETA: They are definitely not mounting anything at the time?

I don’t think they’re mounting , they do it when they are not around anything (sitting on their blankets on top of their cages)
