Hi, I’ve been looking for playpens on ebay and came across two very similar ones I like, one says it’s powder coated steel and the other says it’s galvanised, are any of these safe for a rabbit? If not do you have any recommendations? Sorry if this is in the wrong forum wasn’t sure if it’s the right one  Thanks!

I own this pen (the 42-inch-high version):

          https://www.chewy.com/midwest-exercise-pen-step-thru-door/dp/102227

According to the description, “This exercise pen is made of acri-lock acrylic coated gold zinc plated finish for long-lasting protection”. It doesn’t say exactly whether the metal is powder-coated or galvanized, as you inquired, but it’s acrylic-coated. I bought it from my local rabbit rescue’s supply store and have been using it for my bunnies all week, and it’s been good so far.

That pen looks really good, and it’s long lasting so would probably be safe against any chewing

This is the pen I’ve been looking at just need to find out if it’s safe before I buy it

It should be fine. From my understanding, “galvanized” and “powder-coated” refer to the process in which the steel was made. Galvanized steel is steel dipped in zinc to help prevent rusting. Powder-coated steel is steel that is dipped in a colored polymer (like the white bars on bunny cages).

So that means that my own X-pen is likely galvanized as well as acrylic-coated. I suppose the wires on the bunny condo were powder-coated, by comparison.

Ah okay thanks for letting me know! So I can just go with any of them then, that’s good to know
