my rabbit victoria follows me everywhere i go, but when my brother helps me look after her, she isn’t as attached to him as she is to me. also, when i ask someone to help me clean her cage, she grunts at them but never to me. this might be a stupid question but do they know who we are? can they tell by the scent?

They can tell who we are! They recognize our voice and our scent. For a prey animal its extremely important to be able to tell friend from foe. Your bunny knows your her friend, she’s less certain about your brother. She needs more time to learn to trust him.

No wonder Fernando ran up to me almost instantly last Sunday when I came over for the get-acquainted meeting with him and Panda (that of course turned into an adoption!!! ) I’m really quite impressed he remembered me from an hour or so petting him and his mom in a cage several weeks previously. I will be dropping by their foster mom’s home Saturday morning to visit with them while I’m in the neighborhood getting the last few items I need for their setup, so let’s see how well he remembers me (crosses fingers) !

Oh definitely. My two are happy with me but not so happy around my partner, sometimes when he’s petting Buttercup she’ll sit there and enjoy it til she looks round and realises it’s him and not me and then she runs lol

Sarah: My boys are the same! Asriel will let me run his nose forever, but the second my husband does it he instantly runs away haha. Bombur likes pats no matter who it’s from, but he’ll only snuggle with me

They definitely know! I spend a lot more time with my bunnies than my husband does, and it shows! They will let him snuggle and give pets, but only briefly. They tolerate much more loving from me! Ophelia is a little more high strung than Quincy. She will show an interest in strangers but will expertly dodge all their attempts to pet Quincy doesn’t care who it is lol he’s just gonna keep on doing his thing!

Rookie used to growl and nip my sister but no one else. But my sister had the attitude of not being fond of him anyways so I don’t blame him for nipping…she deserved it…but he knew as soon as she showed up or tried to pet him…
Sprocket knows everyone in the house now and has little routines with everyone.
So they most definetly can recognize everyone
