        Hi all,

I just saw an article about someone with 30 (!) bunnies who had built this gorgeous habitat for them all.

Anyway, one of the things they had was a plastic box filled with little colourful plastic balls, like a children’s ball pit.

I wanted to make one for my bunnies, but is it safe? Might they nibble on plastic balls? I imagine it would be hard for them to get their teeth into…

        But any thoughts/alternatives gratefully received!

They might chew on the plastic (buns always find a way) . I usually see those ball pits being used with ferrets.

I would think that they might find a way to chew…but they would be hard to get a grip on a ball that rolls away! If it isn’t terribly expensive you could give it a shot! I have a sandbox for my bun, she loves to binky and flop in it! Bags of play sand at walmart are like $3 and I got this high sided box on clearance from petsmart. She loves to find the “buried treasure” (straw toys, plastic links, paper towel rolls, etc)

I know Q8 has a beach ball for chewie and that doesn’t get chewed … i would assume it depends on the bunny …

They don’t tend to chew plastic, only really wood, so maybe it would be ok…

I would love a sandpit, but just have visions of living in a house that is permanently like a beach! I think that might have to wait until I have some outside space.

If I make forage boxes with paper/straw they just pee in them :/

A plastic ball of any kind (especially hard plastic) would be incredibly hard to chew – it rolls away, hence no grip.

                    That’s what I thought Q8.

I can get 100 plastic balls on Amazon for £7 so I’m going to give it a go. I’ll let you know if its a success!
