        Hello!

I own two female rabbits, one of an unknown age as it seems she has not been through experienced owners, and another which is less than a year old that I bought when she was still very very small.

Anyways, I am trying to buy a larger hutch for them to share. (Preferably this one as it fits the available dimensions I could fit it to, http://a.co/flgpABJ )… However they will be indoors all the time, so I need a tray to fit at the bottom so the droppings and urine don’t ruin the floor underneath… I simply am unable to find one that will enclose the entire cage, nor do I have ideas to make my own…

If anyone has any ideas, that would be absolutely wonderful! Thank you all in advance!

I attempt to find something similar in the past with no luck ..: I ended up making a floor from plywood and lino/ vinyl the wood for easy cleaning base.
However I’ll share my experience with you on the cons of this set up – not sure if this one is fir wood? Mine was and the treating it had done to it to make it an outdoor hutch caused breathing issues with it being inside – for humans and bunny . In the end that was too hard on everyone and I changed to a indoor cage with a Xpen.
Other issue I found is despite cleaning any accidents straight away and using vinegar the wood smelt fast – and stained easy where bunnies pee had been ( mine are littertrained so it was only the odd splatter or accident yet it was awful – so if my bunnies were not good with litter training I hate to think how much worse it would be!)

If I was starting over again I would have skipped the expensive mistake of having a beautiful hutch setup – it looked nice- for a very short time – but the wee spots ruin it and the breathing issues of the treatment that makes it safe for outdoor conditions …

Other options I recommend would be a Xpen on its own – or puppy pen – tall if they are jumpers or 100cm is good for my non jumpers – a piece of plywood untreated with lino / vinyl laid on top works great as a easy to wipe base. Even a tarpoline with blanket on it for a non chewer works.

A dog crate is another option
