        Hey!
I’m Nina! ^^ i have a little experience, with rabbits. Having helped my college roommate with her dwarf/angora bunny. However, i have never owned one myself. So am trying to make sure i have everything and am prepared for when i go pick him up. I know which bunny will be my baby boy, he is a flemish/dutch mix, he is 4 months old and is currently a little larger than a dutch. I will see if i can figure out how to post a picture of him.

I am currently looking into NIC grids for the cages, possibly seeing if Coastal is a good hay for my boy. As well as finding ways to see if i can keep him active and stimulated without figuring out how to escape from his pen/cage/thing (something i have heard he has managed to figure out twice where he currently is.) Into covers for wires, into toys for him. A few vetables i can introduce to him… sorry if i am missing something, but I’m hoping that you guys can help me set up a proper home for my BJ. As well, properly spoiling him, so that he is healthy but doesn’t know

I look foreward to talking will all of you guys!

P.s. am on phone and would appreciate tips on posting pictures

I’ve had my first bunny for over 4 months now and these are the tips I can give you.

          – First thing first, if there is a place you want him not to escape, he will, even if you buy him lots of toys and play with him. I spoiled my bunny with tons of toys and she has her priorities sorted out that being naughty is what’s important. You can avoid it, but it will be very hard to, it will mostly have to be through trial and error, I’m on bunny proofed room 6.5, you’d be surprised at how Houdini-ish they are.

-If you can grow herbs yourself I also suggest growing your own, it will be a lot cheaper and healthier for your bun to eat organic plants. Some easy ones are basil, sage, dill, mint, parsley. If not I recommend getting some cat grass, or a mix of rye, barley and oat grass, it grows very well and the buns love it, just be careful to not let them eat too much.

-I personally like giving them hay toys, like the woven grass mats, balls, carrot. The ball was a favorite though, it didn’t last 3 days. A tunnel is also great, and some boxes for them to jump on. Another favorite is a dig box, I get a big cardboard box, rip packaging paper into strips and put them in there with a hole for access, they never get bored of those, especially if you put some greens in there to forage. You can always make home made toys too with toilet paper rolls stuffed with hay or rabbit safe chew sticks.

-If you want to spoil your bunny I use frozen pineapple cores or dried strawberries as a treat, once a day though.

Hi! A new bun who is already an escape artist will definitely be an adventure.

Covers for wires: available at any hardware store (they are helpful but not 100% chew proof)
Toys: willow sticks/balls, barrel roller, phonebook, baby keys, logic (foraging) games
Veggies: http://rabbit.org/suggested-vegetables-and-fruits-for-a-rabbit-diet/ (different hays can be given freely, but all other new foods must be introduced slowly)

(picture posting instructions can be found under the Forum “Technical Stuff”)

XD OH great, sounds like i’ll have my hands full with my trouble maker.
I actually have an indoor garden i needed to redo! Thanks for the recommendations!
I was actually thinking of making a diggy box! And XD looked into $200 worth of toys well just under. Aince i also had a scerenity snack or 2 and a thing of the critical care stuff in my cart as well. Now i just need to figure out which ones i want to actually buy.

              Frozen pineapple cores? Really?

              <3 thanks so much!!! Love the veggie link! Any tips on good logic games? Since my boy is supposed to be smart. I thought he trying to make him use it for something else may try to heko with his escaping tendencies ^^;
At the same time, it maybe an adventure taking this boy in, but it is an adventure i very much am looking foreward too.

Pineapple cores have more fiber and less sugar than the part we eat, and it’s a favorite in our house.
I forgot to mention it would be useful to also have a first aid kit for your bun, I have one in case anything happens.
Some things useful would be a thermometer, baby gas drops, critical care, sterile swabs, a dropper, a syringe to help feed them, and some corn starch is also helpful if you make a bad clip during nail trimming to help stop the bleeding. I also have some probiotics ready too in case of runny stools.
That’s all I can remember for mine, but if I missed anything I’m sure the others will point it out.
Have fun being a bunny slave.

Ok, I just tried to post a picture of my bunny boy to-be. We will see if it works!

Awesome! Now i have an excuse to buy the whole pineapple!

^^ i was actually planning on making an emergency kit for my baby boy. I was going to buy the critcial care pretty quickly. Since it will be a long trip from where I pick him up to back home and i didn’t want anything happening to him. Thanks for all the extra suggestions to add to First Aid kit! :3

I very much look forward to being a bunny slave! ^^; i feel so weak though, i love my bunny boy and i’m so happy to get him, but i’m still not ready to take any in.

However, i think i may have already found a sweet shy girl I want to try to adopt and see if she would be a good bonding buddy for my boy.

He is so cute. And no problem, I hope the trip goes well.
At least you’re prepared for him, I got mine without thinking of getting a rabbit, so getting everything ready was chaos haha.
I’m not savvy with bonding but make sure they’re spayed and neutered first, although I’m sure you know that much.

I’m definitely trying to be ready! Got anfww things yesterday, a soft mat i hppe they like. A cat tunnel and 2 dishes. They aren’t ceramic, but they have some heft to them and slick edges that i hope will be hard to pick up.

                      >////> welp, that sweet shy girl is mine now *as soon as I go pick her up* so time to double everything i was going to get. I wouldn’t want them fighting before they even got to know each other.

Here are a few pictures of the girl

I feel so weak, but I felt like i had to at least ask about her. >///.///> then one thing led to the next.

They are adorable! It says your girl is spayed, but BJ has to be neutered too before any attempts to bond them together can safely occur.

For logic games, Trixie and Living World make different kinds. There are also some diy ones too .

They are company/brand names that manufacture rabbit supplies, including logic games. Here’s a link to one of their products:
                                  https://www.amazon.com/Trixie-Snack-Board-Rabbits-Guinea/dp/B0054VEWB8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502147223&sr=8-1&keywords=trixie+rabbit+logic

I usually search Google or Amazon for “Trixie rabbit logic game” or “rabbit logic games” to get ideas on what is available commercially or diy.
